HoW IT ALL STARTED

Mission Statement: To create a constructive, open-minded community of EDM fans within the JMU student body. To cultivate a positive image of EDM culture amongst our peers, JMU faculty, and citizens of the city of Harrisonburg.To create a unique experience of love and acceptance for members through the art of electronic dance music.

The JMU Electronic Dance Music Club was founded in 2016 by a group of like-minded students who wanted a few friends to hang out and bump music with. It was founded under the EDM community’s principles of peace, love, unity, and respect with the intention of being a safe and welcoming space for all people who seek a place to belong to. Many have come and gone but the love that exists in this club has been so powerful that it’s brought club alumni back and welcomed new members every semester. Through countless events, bonding activities, and friendships, we quickly grew to over 100 members and are now one of the fastest growing clubs on campus. Nonetheless, what sets us apart is the tightness of our community that has been built over years and is here to stay. We are a family, a home, and an environment where all are loved and free to be themselves.

Philanthropy

Light The Night

The JMU EDM Club has always been committed to using our influence in a positive way for the community surrounding us. In the Fall of 2017, we fundraised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and participated in their Light the Night event in Richmond, reaching our goal of $1000. We have attended Light the Night in following years, raising over $3000 for LLS. The success of our collective effort as a club inspired us to donate to a chosen cause every semester by throwing benefit shows called “Rave to Save'' at the Golden Pony. Included are The Shenandoah Valley Black Heritage Project, Our Community Place, and the Golden Pony during the pandemic.
